The Muscat International Book Fair was launched in 1992 as one of the achievements of Oman's modern renaissance. Since its inception, the fair has progressed rapidly towards development and innovation, keeping pace with global advancements in the book and publishing industry, and playing a pivotal role in the cultural and scientific development of society. Through its successive editions, the fair has contributed to stimulating cultural activity, disseminating knowledge, strengthening the book market, and enriching Omani libraries with the latest scientific, literary, and artistic works produced by international publishing houses. It has also promoted and introduced Omani books to readers.

The Muscat International Book Fair has witnessed a radical transformation, as evidenced by indicators such as the number of participating countries, the number of publishing houses, the size of the exhibition space and booths, public attendance, the accompanying cultural program, and media presence. This has enabled it to attain a prominent position among international book fairs, attracting hundreds of leading local, Arab, and international publishing houses that compete to participate annually.

While the Muscat International Book Fair strives to maintain its significant achievements, its aspirations look to the future with hope and optimism, aiming to realize further cultural and civilizational ambitions that fulfill its desired goals and objectives.
