The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) is the leading and most representative association of the Indian apparel industry for over four decades. The association has a membership of over 20,000 companies, including ready-made garment manufacturers, exporters, retailers, and ancillary industries. The association's headquarters are in Mumbai, with branches in New Delhi, Bangalore, and Pune.

The association acts as a catalyst for change in the industry by engaging with the government on policy matters affecting the future of the apparel industry. Among these important issues is representing the industry's viewpoint on matters such as sales tax, value-added tax, etc., for the domestic sector, and export policy and procedures, etc., for the export sector. The association also guides its members on compliance with various government regulations.
The association is authorized by the Government of India to issue Certificates of Origin (Non-Preferential) for exporters.
Among the major achievements of the association in this industry is its immense contribution and pioneering role in establishing the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) in 1978. The Apparel Export Promotion Council today fully organizes the promotion of ready-made garment exports from India.
