Gulf Life Insurance Company was established at the end of 2007 as one of the subsidiaries of Gulf Insurance Group, and in 2014, Gulf Life Insurance Company changed its name to become Gulf Insurance and Reinsurance Company, with the license amended to practice health/life insurance business in addition to general insurance. The company currently operates with a paid-up capital estimated at 18 million Kuwaiti dinars. In 2017, Gulf Insurance and Reinsurance Company transformed its trade name to Gulf Insurance Group - Kuwait, a change made in collaboration with all subsidiaries of Gulf Insurance Group for a unified and simplified identity.

Gulf Insurance Group - Kuwait is the first and only leading company in life and health insurance in the local market, currently considered the largest insurance company in Kuwait in terms of total written premiums and retained premiums across various insurance sectors.

The first application was launched on iPhones in 2012, followed by the Android app in 2014, providing online policy issuance services for motor insurance, marine insurance, travel insurance, and domestic worker insurance.
