Royal American School (formerly known as Al Maali International School) was originally established as a villa school in 1996, moving to its current premises in 2009. By 2010 all students were based on the new campus in MBZ region of Abu Dhabi. The school caters students from a variety of backgrounds of mainly Arabic heritage. Over 98% of students are Muslim. Boys and girls are taught in mixed classes up to 4th grade and single-sex classes from 5th to twelfth grade.
