Boursa Kuwait

Kuwait Stock Exchange Company (K.S.C.) was established in April 2014 and is responsible for managing the operations of the Kuwaiti stock market. Since 2016, Boursa Kuwait has been contributing to the advancement of communication, growth, and innovation in the stock market, as well as providing support to the Capital Markets Authority, issuers, investors, and all other stakeholders.

Since its inception, Boursa Kuwait has played a pivotal role in developing the Kuwaiti capital market and diversifying the national economy in line with the goals of Kuwait Vision 2035.

The company has implemented numerous market reforms as part of its comprehensive, phased development plans. It has successfully introduced innovative investment instruments, enhanced transparency, and restructured the market to increase liquidity and competitiveness, based on its mission-driven strategy focused on developing the market to meet international standards.

The company's developmental and improvement efforts have also contributed to the reclassification of the Kuwaiti market as an "emerging market" within the top three global indices, reinforcing the country's position as a leading regional financial center. In a pioneering move in Kuwait's privatization efforts, the Kuwait Stock Exchange (Boursa Kuwait) was successfully privatized in two phases. The first phase took place in February 2019 when a consortium of Kuwaiti investment companies and a global operator won the bid to acquire a 44% stake in the exchange.

In December 2019, the privatization process was completed through an initial public offering (IPO) of the Capital Markets Authority's 50% stake in the company to Kuwaiti citizens. The offering was oversubscribed by more than 850%, making Boursa Kuwait the only privately owned stock exchange in the Middle East.

Boursa Kuwait is self-listed on the Premier Market and is one of the Kuwaiti government entities that has been successfully privatized.
