Dubai Municipality

The nucleus of Dubai Municipality was established in 1954, starting its operations with a workforce that did not exceed seven employees and with simple tasks related to city cleanliness. The first decree to establish the municipality was issued on February 28, 1957, appointing the city's notables and merchants as members of the municipal council, totaling twenty-three members. It was granted limited powers, the most important of which were overseeing the city's health and urban affairs, regulating construction, beautifying the city, and presenting constructive proposals to the government.

Dubai Municipality went through a series of developmental stages over the years of its operation and continued to evolve and grow. The number of employees exceeded 11,000 staff and workers operating across 34 departments. Dubai Municipality is considered one of the largest government institutions in terms of the services it provides and the projects and works it undertakes, making it the pioneering and driving force behind the growth and development of the Emirate of Dubai.
