Urban Development Fund (UDF)

The Urban Development Fund targets projects in the capitals and governorates of the Republic to preserve distinctive areas and work on providing the needs and requirements of the population.

The Urban Development Fund  (U.D.F), formerly the Informal Settlements Development Fund (I.S.D.F), was established by a decision of the Prime Minister on August 2, 2021, and reports to the Egyptian Cabinet.

It is considered a public economic authority with legal personality.

By a decision of the Fund's Board of Directors, branches and offices may be established in the governorates, and by a decision of the Fund's Board of Directors, branches and offices may be established in the governorates.

The U.D.F was created to work on the development of urban development areas, encourage civil society and the business sector to contribute in kind and financially to urban development works, and enhance opportunities for international cooperation and exchange of expertise.

U.D.F's work will focus on four targeted areas: deteriorated and unplanned areas, areas with special value and nature, areas previously used with incompatible uses, and urban expansion.
