The Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority was established in 2014, pursuant to Emiri Decree No. (55) of 2014 issued by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in accordance with Emiri Decree No. (55) of 2014. In 2015, Law No. (8) was issued regarding the regulation of the objectives, competencies, and jurisdictions of the Prevention, Safety, and Occupational Health Authority, under which the authority's competencies and tasks include proposing the necessary general controls and conditions for the prevention of accidents and any risks that establishments or their workers may be exposed to, in addition to proposing controls and conditions for the inspection of establishments and their periodic updating.
