Misr for Exchange Company (an Egyptian joint-stock company) was established on 4/5/1991 in accordance with the laws in force in the Arab Republic of Egypt and under the provisions of the Joint Stock Companies Law No. 159 of 1981, its executive regulations and amendments, the Foreign Currency Law No. 97 of 1976 and its executive regulations, and in compliance with Law No. 38 of 2003 concerning the Central Bank of Egypt, the banking system, currency, its amendments, and executive regulations.
The company was issued a commercial register number 16681 on 4/5/1991 and was licensed to deal in the purchase and sale of foreign currencies by Ministerial Decision No. 381 of 1991 dated 8/8/1991, published in the Official Gazette Issue No. 183 on 17/8/1991, pursuant to Article 3 of the Executive Regulations.
The company's activities are governed by Law No. 88 of 2003, its amendments, and executive regulations.

On 26/4/2016, an extraordinary general assembly was held and decided to amend Article (5), which stipulated that the company's fixed term is 25 years starting from the date of the company's registration in the commercial register, to become a fixed term of 25 years starting from 3/5/2014 until 4/5/2039.

Buying and selling foreign currencies for clients through its main center in addition to 54 branches spread across the governorates of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
